This video shows a demo of a prototype device for stabilizing broken limbs intended for use by first responders and field medics. It makes use of soft materials throughout to minimize damage to soft tissues and can be unpacked and fully deployed in well under a minute.

A military medic can add a splint kit to his emergency pack without concern for space or weight.

The inflating collars of the splint are designed to be put on a limb snugly before a fixed amount of slack is introduced. This ensures the inflated bladders do not apply more than the necessary pressure to the limb and avoids creating a dangerous tourniquet.

In an emergency, mistakes are made. That's why I incorporated features such as this pinching shutoff. This ensures that the splint cannot be accidentally activated prematurely, creating a tourniquet.
